to society and nature

The El Pinar de la Lobera estate, located in Huéscar (Granada), covers 250 hectares of forest land. Its landscape combines plateaus and ravines with spectacular rocky cliffs that offer views of the Río Frío canyon, which later becomes the Zumeta River, a tributary of the Segura. It is surrounded by the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Mountains Natural Park to the north and west, and the Sierra de La Sagra to the south and east, integrating into an environment of great natural beauty.

Committed to the conservation of the environment, the El Pinar de La Lobera rural estate promotes actions to preserve and improve this space, including the promotion of its natural wealth. To do so, it has three rural houses with capacity for 20 people, ideal for those who wish to explore the surroundings.

From these facilities, hiking trails start that allow you to enjoy impressive landscapes, mixtures of vegetation such as pines, oaks, broadleaved trees and ancient junipers, as well as a rich fauna that includes ungulates, birds of prey and the common trout native to the Frío River.

Rural tourism with minimal impact

  • Atmosphere: We have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by replacing diesel-burning equipment with clean-energy photovoltaic systems. In addition, this equipment eliminates noise by not generating sound emissions.
  • Soil: To reduce waste, we have installed containers near the accommodation, managed by maintenance staff, to keep them tidy and facilitate recycling.
  • Water: We have modernized the sanitation network with a new total oxidation treatment plant, reusing the purified water to feed ponds that benefit wildlife and increase biodiversity. Pipelines and pumping equipment were also optimized to avoid leaks and improve water consumption.
  • Fauna: The estate, previously used for hunting, now applies selective criteria to protect diversity, removing only sick specimens. We have improved ponds and installed feeders and nest boxes for birds, amphibians, reptiles and ungulates, guaranteeing water and food in times of scarcity.
  • Vegetation: We have updated the Fire Prevention Plan with perimeter firebreaks, ponds for extinguishing water and improvements to internal roads to facilitate access in emergencies. We have also implemented a Dasocracia Plan to conserve and regenerate the forest.
  • Socioeconomic: We have maintained the cultural value of traditional buildings, such as the Cortijo La Molata, rehabilitated for its historical importance and natural beauty.
